Baku: Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia are set to enhance their cooperation in the energy sector by coordinating their electricity networks in a trilateral format. This initiative was highlighted by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Shahin Mustafayev, during a meeting in Baku attended by representatives from the three nations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Mustafayev emphasized the existing connections between Azerbaijan’s electricity grid and those of Iran and Russia, which facilitate the exchange and trade of electricity. He noted that the current agenda includes a project aimed at linking the electricity grids of the three countries in a trilateral arrangement. The Deputy Prime Minister also stressed the importance of improving infrastructure at customs and border checkpoints, highlighting the need for simplification and digitalization of customs operations as a priority.
Mustafayev expressed confidence that the ongoing negotiations and forthcoming decisions would strengthen cooperation among Azerbaijan, Iran, and Russia. He stated that these efforts would be advantageous not only for the three countries but also for the broader region.
