Baku: In the first half of 2026, Azerbaijan exported 3.74 million tons of crude oil to Italy, representing a 26.2 percent decrease compared with the same period of 2025. Despite this decline, Azerbaijan retained its position as the second-largest supplier of crude oil to the Italian market.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, during this period, imports of Azeri Blend crude oil increased by 23.8 percent, totaling 1.66 million tons. However, supplies of Azeri Light crude oil saw a significant drop of 44.3 percent, totaling 2.07 million tons.

Italy's total crude oil imports reached 28.77 million tons in the first half of 2026, marking a 1.8 percent increase from the same period in the previous year. Azerbaijan's share of these imports stood at approximately 13 percent. Libya was the largest supplier, with 7.39 million tons, followed by Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan with 3.61 million tons, the United States with over 3 million tons, and Saudi Arabia with 2.32 million tons.

In 2025, Italy imported 9.51 million tons of crude oil from Azerbaijan, reflecting a 2.4 percent increase compared with 2024 figures. By the end of the year, Azerbaijani oil comprised 16.8 percent of Italy's total crude oil imports.
