Baku: bp, in collaboration with its co-venturers in the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz projects, including SOCAR, TPAO, LUKOIL, SGC, NICO, MOL, INPEX, ExxonMobil, MVM, and ONGC Videsh, has unveiled a new social investment project aimed at cultivating local expertise in renewable energy and energy efficiency within Azerbaijan.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, this initiative is part of bp and its partners' ongoing commitment to bolster local capabilities and foster long-term skills development in the nation. The project is structured to develop a cadre of highly qualified local trainers in renewable energy and energy efficiency who can independently conduct training programs adhering to high professional and educational standards.
The initiative will see 20 local specialists partake in a 'Train-the-Trainer' learning program, delivered by the esteemed Berlin-based Renewable Energy Academy. This academy is internationally recognized for its specialization in training related to renewable energy and energy efficiency. The program includes around 50 hours of self-paced online learning and eight half-day live virtual training sessions. By merging technical knowledge with modern teaching methodologies, the program aims to enhance both the subject matter expertise and training skills of the participants. They will learn to independently and effectively design, deliver, and evaluate training courses, leveraging international best practices while tailoring the approaches to meet local needs. Successful participants will be awarded a 'Train-the-Trainer' certificate.
The project aspires to lay a sustainable groundwork for future capacity building in renewable energy and energy efficiency by empowering local specialists to disseminate their knowledge and support broader skills development in these fields. Bakhtiyar Aslanbayli, bp vice president for the Caspian, Central Asia, and Trkiye region, emphasized the importance of building local capabilities and supporting skills development as key priorities of their social investment endeavors in Azerbaijan. As the country progresses its energy transition goals, the demand for qualified professionals to develop and share knowledge in renewable energy and energy efficiency is growing. Through this initiative, bp aims to equip participants with advanced technical and training skills, thereby helping to establish a sustainable local training capacity that can continue to create value beyond the program's duration.
The one-year project, costing AZN 83,663 ($49,000), will be implemented by the Economic Cooperation Organization Clean Energy Center (CECECO).
