Baku: A new requirement mandating the labeling of photo, video, and audio materials created with artificial intelligence technologies has been introduced in Azerbaijan, as reported by APA. This development is part of the newly proposed Article 13-2.7 of the Law 'On Information, Informatization and Protection of Information,' which was submitted for discussion at the Milli Majlis session today.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the legislative draft stipulates that AI-generated photo, video, or audio content must be clearly and visibly labeled when publicly displayed. This initiative aims to ensure transparency in the dissemination of AI-produced content across media platforms, internet resources, and telecommunications networks.
The proposed Article 388-3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses outlines penalties for non-compliance. It specifies that individuals or entities disseminating AI-generated content without proper labeling will face fines ranging from 80 to 150 manats. This measure targets those who knowingly distribute such materials without indicating their AI origins.
'Labeling' in this context refers to markings automatically generated by the AI technologies used to create the content, including visual, audio, or text-based indicators. These labels must accompany all AI-generated materials to comply with the new regulation.
Following discussions in the Milli Majlis, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully adopted in the third reading, marking a significant step in Azerbaijan's approach to managing information transparency in the digital age.
