Azerbaijan MES Employees Secure Spots for World Arm Wrestling Championship

Baku: In a recent display of strength and skill, employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) have qualified for the World Arm Wrestling Championship following their stellar performance at the National Cup of Arm Wrestling. The event, dedicated to the memory of the martyrs, took place at the Absheron Olympic Complex on August 2-3, 2025. It was organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports in collaboration with the Azerbaijan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the competition saw around 500 athletes from various regions and sports societies across the republic competing in different weight categories. Participants showcased their prowess and determination, with the MES arm wrestling team achieving significant success. Major Rashad Kasemanli, representing the Sports and Health Club of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, won gold in both right and left arm matches in the 63 kg category. Major Rashad Hajiyev from the Sumgayit Regional Center secured gold in the left arm and silver in the right arm in the 105 kg category. Internal service sergeant Sanan Shukurov of the State Fire Protection Service clinched gold in the left arm in the 86 kg category.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports awarded winners with diplomas and medals to honor their achievements. On August 5, 2025, Colonel Fuzuli Musayev, head of the Sports and Health Club of MES, met with the successful athletes, extending his congratulations and encouragement for their future endeavors.

Notably, three members of the MES team have earned the opportunity to compete in the World Arm Wrestling Championship, set to take place in Baku this October.
