Baku: Azerbaijan has approved the acquisition of land to expand its state border checkpoints, aiming to enhance the efficiency of border and customs control. A total of 8.76 hectares of state-owned land and 8.282 hectares of municipal land will be acquired, including specific allocations in the Gazakh and Gusar districts.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decision was made by the Cabinet of Ministers. The State Customs Committee is tasked with forming an appraisal commission to evaluate the acquired land, determining ownership portions, and ensuring compliance with the ‘On the Acquisition of Lands for State Needs’ Law.

The Committee is also responsible for ensuring that the acquisition of land needed for construction under the expansion project is financed through revenues from the ‘Az?rterminalkompleks’ Union. Furthermore, the Committee must report to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan at least every six months on the acquired properties, affected individuals, and compensation amounts.
