Azerbaijan Participates in Global Sustainable Transport Forum in China

Beijing: Azerbaijan actively participated in the ‘Global Sustainable Transport Forum’ held in the People’s Republic of China, with representatives from numerous countries attending the event. The forum was focused on fostering a comprehensive approach and unified strategy for sustainable development in the transport sector, sharing innovative and replicable initiatives, and enhancing global cooperation on digital development, green and low-carbon technologies, and the inclusivity and safety of transport systems.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Azerbaijan was represented by Fariz Aliyev, the Head of the Transport Policy Department at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport. During the forum, key discussions revolved around three main initiatives aimed at effectively implementing the forum’s goals: the ‘Framework Agreement on the Development and Cooperation of Global Sustainable Transport,’ the ‘Sustainable Transport Index,’ and ‘Best Practices in Global Sustainable Transport.’

Additionally, the forum addressed collaboration in building sustainable transport systems and explored the potential of establishing a branch of the Center for Sustainable Transport in Azerbaijan. It was highlighted that opening such a center in Azerbaijan would be critical for advancing research and innovation in the transport sector.
