Azerbaijan Participates in International Maritime Environment Meeting

London: Azerbaijan joined the 84th session of the Marine Environment Protection Committee organized by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) at its headquarters in London. Farid Murtuzov, the Head of the Marine Environment Protection Department, represented Azerbaijan during this significant session.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the meeting gathered representatives from member states, relevant UN programs, specialized agencies, organizations, and observers from intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations. The session focused on crucial topics including the prevention of air pollution, enhancement of energy efficiency in ships, reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, tackling plastic pollution, and minimizing underwater radiated noise from ships.

The discussions also included working group reports and work plans, leading to the adoption of relevant decisions aimed at improving marine environmental protection.
