It was reported that information was received by the Organ Donation and Transplant Coordination Center, which operates under the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, regarding a patient diagnosed with brain death at the Clinical Medical Center. The Center took necessary steps to organize and coordinate the organ donation and transplantation process.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the family of the deceased donor gave consent for the organ transplantation. The liver taken from the deceased donor was transplanted to Sharifova Manzer Yashar, born on October 12, 2002, who was suffering from cirrhosis due to hepatitis B and D. The procedure was performed by a professional medical team led by Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine Mirjalal Kazimi at the Central Customs Hospital.
The corneas of the deceased donor were transplanted to two recipients, one from Zagatala and the other from Fuzuli, by specialized surgeon and ophthalmologist, Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine Jamil Hasanov, and his professional team at the National Ophthalmology Center named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva.
