Baku: The Ombudsman’s 2024 Report on the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan was prepared: The Ombudsman’s 2024 Report on the Protection of Human Rights in Azerbaijan has been completed, as mandated by article 14 of the Constitutional Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan, “On the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ombudsman is required to submit the annual report to the President of Azerbaijan no later than two months after the end of the current year. The report is also presented to the Parliament and sent to the Cabinet of Ministers, the Constitutional and Supreme Courts, and the Prosecutor General. Last year’s report was submitted to the President and relevant state institutions on February 24, 2025, following the procedures established by the Constitutional Law.
The 2024 Report details the Ombudsman’s activities in restoring human rights and freedoms as outlined in the Constitution of the Republic of Azerbaijan and in international treaties to which Azerbaijan is a party. It addresses violations by government and municipal bodies and officials, efforts to prevent human rights violations, and the results of awareness-raising and scientific-analytical activities. It also covers cooperation with public and civil society institutions, international relations, and includes suggestions and recommendations to improve the protection of human and citizen rights and freedoms.
The report will be made public through the media after it is heard in Parliament.
