Khiva: Azerbaijan has placed a significant carpet order worth $7.5 million with the Khiva Carpet Factory in Uzbekistan. ‘We have received a carpet order worth 7.5 million US dollars from Azerbaijan,’ said Deputy Director of the Khiva Carpet Factory, Oktam Rahimov, in an interview with APA’s correspondent dispatched to Khiva.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Khiva Carpet Factory, which was modernized in 2020, currently produces 750,000 square meters of carpet each month. The factory primarily exports its products to CIS countries, including Azerbaijan, and to China. As part of their working visit to Uzbekistan, Azerbaijani media representatives visited the factory to learn about its production process, export opportunities, and operational areas.
The Khiva Carpet Factory is recognized as one of the largest industrial enterprises in the region. It produces yarn, finished fabrics, and carpets from cotton, utilizing modern technological equipment. The factory’s products are supplied to both domestic and international markets, providing employment to hundreds of local residents.
During their visit, Azerbaijani journalists also explored local tourism facilities, educational institutions, and industrial enterprises, gaining insights into the economic, social, and tourism potential of the Khiva region. This visit was organized under the ‘Roadmap for the Development of Cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Field of Media,’ a project designed to foster mutual experience and information exchange between the media sectors of both countries and to study advanced media management approaches.
