BAKU: Azerbaijan is set to enhance its electric vehicle charging infrastructure in its liberated regions as part of a broader initiative to establish a “green energy zone.” This effort will focus on generating electricity from renewable sources, improving energy efficiency, and promoting the use of electric vehicles. The Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency, operating under the Ministry of Energy, shared these details with Trend.

According to Trend News Agency, the initiative will include installing renewable energy systems, particularly solar panels on building rooftops, and employing LED lighting for streets and roads. The project will also incorporate smart energy management technologies to support these goals.

Electric vehicles are viewed as crucial to achieving a cleaner environment in these liberated areas. Developing the necessary electric charging infrastructure is seen as a vital component of the “green energy zone” initiative.

By the end of 2024, Azerbaijan plans to establish a total of 20 chargi
ng stations in these regions. Currently, 12 electric charging installations are operational across six locations, including the Zangilan substation, Jabrayil Training Center, and Khojaly Digital Management Center, managed by Azerishig OJSC. Additionally, three charging units have been installed at the Congress Center in Zangilan, with two more available at the Shusha Hotel-Congress Center complex car park.
