Vienna: Kyrgyzstan and the OFID (OPEC Fund for International Development) have formalized a partnership to create a roadmap for implementing joint projects. This development was reported by Trend News Agency, citing the Ministry of Economy and Commerce of Kyrgyzstan.

According to Trend News Agency, the agreement was finalized during a meeting between Kyrgyzstan’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce, Sanzhar Bolotov, and OFID’s Vice President, Shaimaa Al-Sheiby. The meeting occurred at the 9th session of the Kyrgyz-Austrian Commission on Bilateral Economic Relations in Vienna. Discussions focused on Kyrgyzstan’s ongoing economic reforms aimed at improving the business environment and attracting foreign investments.

Bolotov outlined strategic projects such as the construction of the Kambarata HPP-1 and the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, which are crucial for the country’s infrastructure development. He proposed that OFID consider participating in energy, transport infrastructure, agriculture, and ho
using mortgage construction projects.

The discussions also covered financing private investment projects under the Framework Agreement for private sector operations between Kyrgyzstan and OFID, signed on August 22, 2024.

OFID, established in 1976, is a multilateral development finance institution with 12 member countries. It is the only globally authorized development institution that allocates funds from member countries solely to non-member states, working to promote economic growth and social progress in low- and middle-income nations.
