Saatli: Azerbaijan's police have detained two individuals suspected of involvement in an illegal narcotics trafficking operation. As a result of a strategic operation conducted by officers of the Saatli District Police Department, 34-year-old Alkhan Agharahimov and 35-year-old Elvin Mehdiyev were apprehended, the Interior Ministry's Press Service revealed to APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, authorities seized nearly 6 kilograms of narcotic substances from the suspects, including hashish and marijuana. During the investigation, it was disclosed that Agharahimov and Mehdiyev confessed to being recruited as drug couriers by an Iranian national. The identity of this individual, whom they reportedly met through social media, is currently under investigation.

A criminal case has been initiated, and a preventive measure of arrest has been applied to the suspects. Additionally, police efforts aimed at the voluntary surrender of illegally possessed firearms have resulted in a district resident turning over an automatic firearm to the authorities.
