Davos: President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Davos, focusing on the development of bilateral relations between the two nations. The meeting took place on January 22, highlighting the progress achieved in various fields since President Donald Trump's return to office.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, both leaders acknowledged President Trump's pivotal role in facilitating agreements that have advanced the peace agenda between Azerbaijan and Armenia. These agreements were reached in Washington on August 8 of the previous year. President Ilham Aliyev elaborated on the efforts made towards normalizing relations with Armenia, noting that peace has been established in the region. This progress is evident in the growing trade relations, such as the export of Azerbaijani oil products to Armenia and the transit of imported grain through Azerbaijani territory.

President Aliyev also emphasized the significance of the Zangezur Corridor, including the TRIPP project, in enhancing regional connectivity. The discussion further highlighted the establishment of the Board of Peace under the U.S. President's chairmanship. The Board's role in strengthening peace in the Middle East and addressing global conflicts was underscored, with Azerbaijan being invited as a founding member state. This invitation reflects the strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and the U.S. and Azerbaijan's contribution to global peace efforts.

The two presidents also explored future prospects for bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of reciprocal visits and contacts at various levels to deepen cooperation further.
