Azerbaijan President Announces Peace Agreement Imminent with Armenia

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has declared that a formal peace agreement with Armenia is imminent, contingent upon constitutional amendments by Armenia. These amendments involve the removal of territorial claims to Azerbaijan, which currently exist in the Armenian constitution.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Aliyev discussed this development in an interview with Al Arabiya TV. He emphasized that the negotiations, which concluded in Washington with the support of President Trump, signify the end of the conflict and war between the two nations. Aliyev stated that once Armenia amends its constitution to eliminate these territorial claims, the peace agreement will be signed. The initialling of the document at the White House, in President Trump's presence, marks the cessation of a conflict that has persisted for over 30 years and heralds new opportunities for the South Caucasus, Central Asia, and the Middle East regions.
