Baku: President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan has extended his heartfelt congratulations to His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, on the occasion of the UAE’s Independence Day. In a letter addressed to Sheikh Mohamed, President Aliyev expressed his sincere best wishes to the people of the UAE, emphasizing the remarkable progress achieved under Sheikh Mohamed’s leadership.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev lauded the large-scale construction initiatives in the UAE, attributing the country’s exemplary progress to Sheikh Mohamed’s wise leadership and dedication. The Azerbaijani leader highlighted the solid foundations of brotherhood, friendship, mutual trust, understanding, and support that underpin the relations between Azerbaijan and the UAE. He noted that these relations have been on an upward trajectory, reaching a new qualitative level marked by regular high-level visits and close cooperation.

President Aliyev emphasized the significance of Sheikh Mohamed’s official visit to Azerbaijan in September, which bolstered bilateral relations. The visit resulted in the signing of key documents, including the ‘Joint Declaration on Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Relations,’ enhancing interaction in new domains beyond traditional areas. Aliyev also acknowledged the symbolic importance of Sheikh Mohamed’s visit to the liberated Karabakh region, reflecting the deep brotherhood and solidarity between the two nations.

The cooperation agenda between Azerbaijan and the UAE spans various fields such as economic and trade, oil and gas, renewable energy, investment, and digitalization. President Aliyev expressed confidence in the continued successful efforts to strengthen and diversify this cooperation, aiming to benefit both countries and their peoples.
