Lankaran: An attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic substances into the country has been prevented, APA reports, citing the Press Center of the State Border Service. The operation was successful in stopping the illegal transport of drugs into Azerbaijan from Iran.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the border search and operational measures took place within the area of responsibility of the Lankaran Border Detachment of the Border Troops Command. The operation led to the interception of 32 kilograms and 365 grams of narcotic substances, which included 27 kilograms and 65 grams of marijuana and 5 kilograms and 300 grams of heroin. Additionally, authorities seized 7,200 Methadone M-40 psychotropic tablets during the operation.

Operational and investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the case as authorities continue their efforts to combat drug smuggling activities in the region.
