MFA Urges Azerbaijani Citizens to Avoid Conflict Zones Amid Global Tensions

Baku: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan has issued an appeal to Azerbaijani citizens regarding the ongoing armed conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. It highlights the serious threats these conflicts pose to international peace and security, as well as to the safety of Azerbaijani citizens in these regions.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ministry's statement points out that incidents involving Azerbaijani citizens being killed or injured in conflict zones underline the high security risks in these areas. Citizens are urged to assess the security situation carefully before traveling and to heed the warnings and recommendations of official state bodies. The ministry advises against traveling to areas with active conflicts and military operations.

The statement also emphasizes that Azerbaijani citizens participating in armed conflicts or military operations abroad, whether as mercenaries or volunteers, face criminal liability under Azerbaijani law. The country's diplomatic missions and consulates are actively working to protect the rights and interests of citizens overseas.

The ministry stresses the importance of personal responsibility for safety and advises citizens to avoid high-risk activities. It remains vigilant in monitoring international developments to ensure the safety of its citizens.
