Baku: The smuggling of more than 24 kilograms of narcotic substances from Iran into Azerbaijan has been prevented, APA reports, citing a joint statement by the State Border Service and the State Customs Committee.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the thwarting of the drug transport was a result of border search and operational measures carried out by employees of the State Border Service and the State Customs Committee. These measures took place in the service area of the ‘Horadiz’ border detachment of the Border Troops Command, where an attempt to transport narcotic substances weighing a total of 24 kilograms 115 grams from the Islamic Republic of Iran into the Republic of Azerbaijan was stopped.

Operational and investigative measures are ongoing in connection with the case.
