BAKU: Azerbaijan Railways is formulating a comprehensive decarbonization strategy that emphasizes clean technology investments, renewable energy adoption, and the modernization of energy-efficient infrastructure. This initiative was announced by Orkhan Ahmadzade, Acting Head of the Research and Development Center at Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, during an event in Baku focused on innovations in railroad technology and opportunities for German companies.

According to Trend News Agency, Ahmadzade highlighted the importance of sustainable development as a core element of Azerbaijan Railways’ growth strategy. The forthcoming decarbonization strategy and action plan aim to integrate eco-friendly technologies and renewable energy into the country’s railway operations. Furthermore, Azerbaijan Railways intends to expand the use of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance safety, efficiency, and decision-making processes in real-time.

Ahmadzade elaborated on the potential applications of AI in the railway sector, includi
ng infrastructure monitoring, predicting maintenance needs for rolling stock and infrastructure, managing train schedules, and optimizing cargo handling. The integration of AI is expected to improve response times, accuracy, and service reliability for businesses that rely on railway transportation.

In addition to technological advancements, Azerbaijan Railways plans to invest in training programs for its staff. Ahmadzade emphasized the necessity of preparing the workforce to operate advanced systems and deliver improved services to businesses.
