Baku: The “Global Terrorism Index 2025” (GTI) report presents the latest ranking of countries based on the threat of terrorism, APA reports. Azerbaijan, with an index of “0.233,” has risen by one rank compared to 2024 and is ranked 90th in 2025, placing it among the safest countries in terms of terrorism globally.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the “Global Terrorism Index” (GTI) ranking is based on calculations from various indicators, including terrorist incidents, deaths, severe outcomes, hostages, counter-terrorism efforts, the effectiveness of terrorism investigations, and many other factors. Among the countries with the highest levels of terrorist activity and threat, Burkina Faso, Pakistan, and Syria top the rankings.
The “Global Terrorism Index” reports, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), serve as a reference source for international academic institutions, the United Nations, the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the World Bank, and other international organizations. These reports are periodically published and provide critical insights into global security trends.
Azerbaijan’s high security level has been achieved in a context of various challenges, including terrorist and sabotage attacks. Despite being located in a sensitive geopolitical region, Azerbaijan has achieved a high internal security rating due to successful state policy and the effective work of security agencies in fighting terrorism.
President Ilham Aliyev has emphasized the country’s stability, stating, “Azerbaijan is an island of stability, an island of security,” reflecting the nation’s progress in establishing peace and security.
