Baku: In Azerbaijan, products worth AZN 1,315.5 million were manufactured in the chemical industry, pharmaceutical products, and rubber and plastic products sectors in January-July of this year. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, citing the monthly report of the State Statistical Committee, the production of pharmaceutical products saw a notable increase of 53.9% compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Meanwhile, the production of rubber and plastic products rose by 6.3%. However, the chemical industry products experienced a decline, with production decreasing by 9.7%.
The report highlighted specific changes within various product categories. Among the chemical industry products, polyethylene production decreased by 25.1%, and ethylene production fell by 25.4%. Conversely, within the rubber and plastic products category, there was an increase in the production of sacks and bags made of polyethylene by 9.4%, and the production of pipes, tubes, sleeves, and hoses made of rigid plastics rose by 8.2%.
Further details revealed the production volumes of various chemical products. Inert gases production reached 25,643.5 thousand cubic meters, with nitrogen accounting for 13,014.2 thousand cubic meters. The production of paint and varnish products was at 28,544.3 tons, while inorganic chemicals amounted to 16,530 tons, including 111.3 tons of iodine. Organic chemicals production was 373.8 thousand tons, with ethylene contributing 70.4 thousand tons and propene (propylene) adding 71.4 thousand tons.
Methanol production stood at 180.1 thousand tons, ethyl alcohol at 52.6 thousand parts, and fertilizers and nitrogen compounds totaled 304.6 thousand tons, predominantly from urea. Plastic mass in primary form was recorded at 143.3 thousand tons, with polyethylene representing 68.2 thousand tons. Additionally, adhesives and adhesive substances were produced in the amount of 103 thousand tons.
