Baku: Starting next year, Azerbaijan will implement new compulsory health insurance premium rates for employees working in the non-oil private sector, specifically for those with salaries up to 8,000 manats. This change, as reported by APA, is part of an amendment to the Law "On Medical Insurance" and was approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the current system requires individuals working in various sectors, including military personnel (with exceptions), appointed officials, and those in elective paid positions, to pay health insurance premiums at a rate of 2 percent of their salary up to 8,000 manats, and 0.5 percent for any amount over that threshold. This amendment will now affect those working for insurers not involved in the oil and gas industry, who belong to the non-state sector.

The amendment introduces Article 15-10.1.2-1 to the legislation, which specifies that for employees in the non-oil private sector, the compulsory medical insurance premiums will be set at 2 percent of the salary up to 2,500 manats, and 0.5 percent for any amount over 2,500 manats. This adjustment in premium rates applies to both the employer and the employee for salaries up to and over the specified amounts.
