Baku: The 24th meeting of the Interparliamentary Cooperation Commission between the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was convened today. The opening remarks were delivered by the co-chairs of the commission, First Deputy Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ali Ahmadov and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Andrey Yatskin.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the meeting's agenda was centered around discussions on the development of healthcare, medical education, medical science, and humanitarian ties, as well as interparliamentary cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia. Ali Ahmadov highlighted that the agenda items are pivotal to Azerbaijan-Russia cooperation and hold the potential to expand the partnership further.
Andrey Yatskin pointed out that healthcare and education were principal topics during the session. He expressed confidence that the commission's initiatives would enhance parliamentary diplomacy, cooperation in the healthcare sector, training of medical personnel, and educational ties. Yatskin also underscored the significance of humanitarian ties in Azerbaijan-Russia relations, emphasizing the existing extensive people-to-people connections.
The meeting included discussions on implementing the interparliamentary commission's roadmap for 2024-2026 and exploring future cooperation areas. Participants included members of the interparliamentary commission from both countries and representatives of relevant state institutions.
