Shanghai:The Azerbaijani team achieved significant recognition by winning the 'Medal of Excellence' in cybersecurity at the 48th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China, held from September 22 to 27.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the competition saw participation from more than 1,400 individuals representing 70 countries and regions, showcasing their skills across 64 different categories.

Azerbaijan was represented in seven skill areas, including welding, automobile technology, rail vehicle technology, electronics, web technologies, cooking, and cybersecurity. The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Ilgar Bayramli, Director of the State Agency for Vocational Education and official representative of the 'WorldSkills Azerbaijan' platform.

In cybersecurity, Azerbaijan was represented by Ali Maharramli and Yusif Kazimli, who scored 702 points to secure the 'Medal of Excellence.' Their performance surpassed teams from Australia, Korea, Brazil, Thailand, India, Malaysia, and Japan.

This accolade marks Azerbaijan's second 'Medal of Excellence' at WorldSkills, following a previous award in cooking in 2022. The selection and preparation for the cybersecurity category were conducted at the Azerbaijan Cybersecurity Center, involving stages in the 'Capture The Flag' format.

Additionally, Orkhan Mustafayev earned the 'Best of Nation' medal in electronics, and Zarina Tahmazova received the 'Best CCD - Medal of Excellence' award at the event.
