Doha: Azerbaijan is set to expand its agricultural exports to Qatar and Saudi Arabia following a recent visit by a delegation led by Azad Jafarli, Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Agriculture. The delegation participated in the "AgriteQ 2026" International Agricultural Exhibition in Doha and the 3rd Makkah Halal Forum in Saudi Arabia, where they explored potential opportunities for collaboration in the agricultural sector.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Azerbaijani delegation took part in the inauguration ceremony of the "AgriteQ 2026" exhibition, which ran from February 11-14. The event featured presentations and panel discussions on various agricultural technologies and innovative solutions. The delegation also met with Hamad Hadi Al Hajri, Assistant Director of the Food Security Department at Qatar's Ministry of Municipality and Environment, to discuss the formation of a Joint Working Group aimed at facilitating cooperative projects in agriculture.
Meetings with executives from Haidari Trading Company and Al Shahabi Trading Company, two prominent importers of fresh produce in Qatar, focused on addressing supply chain issues and expanding import sources. The discussions aimed to strengthen ties and enhance the flow of Azerbaijani agricultural products into the Qatari market.
In Saudi Arabia, the Azerbaijani delegation participated in the 3rd Makkah Halal Forum from February 14-17. The event served as a platform for Azerbaijan's agricultural companies to showcase their products and engage with Islamic countries in the halal industry. Talks with the Makkah Chamber of Commerce and Industry centered on increasing the export of Azerbaijani agricultural goods to Saudi Arabia.
Throughout the visits, both sides reached several mutual agreements on enhancing trade turnover, participating in international exhibitions, and fostering technological partnerships. The discussions also covered strengthening institutional collaboration and implementing joint initiatives to boost agricultural ties between Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia.
