Baku: Azerbaijan imported approximately 700,000 smartphones between January and July 2025, with a total of 675,164 units valued at 217 million 546.4 thousand US dollars. This represents a 12.4% decrease in the number of units imported compared to the same period in the previous year, as reported by APA-Economics, citing the State Statistical Committee.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, while the quantity of smartphones imported decreased, the value of these imports rose by 1.7%, or 5.1 million US dollars. In the first seven months of 2024, Azerbaijan imported 770,523 smartphones worth 212 million 431.9 thousand dollars. The increased spending is attributed to a rise in the average import price per smartphone, which jumped by 17% from the previous year, reaching 548 manats.
During the reported period, the majority of smartphones were imported from China, with 538,877 units, followed by Vietnam with 128,101 units, India with 7,839 units, and Korea with 230 units. The average import prices were 523 manats from China, 627.3 manats from Vietnam, 933.6 manats from India, and 204 manats from Korea.
Additionally, Azerbaijan exported 898 smartphones valued at 166.4 thousand US dollars during the same period. These exports were directed to Georgia and the Czech Republic, with 491 and 407 units respectively, at an average price of 315 manats per smartphone.
