Baku: Last year, electricity production in Azerbaijan totaled 28,657.5 million kWh, marking an increase of 0.9 percent or 262.3 million kWh, as reported by the Ministry of Energy to APA-Economics.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the breakdown of this production included 24,823.4 million kWh generated at Thermal Power Plants, 2,842.5 million kWh at Hydroelectric Power Plants, and 991.6 million kWh from other sources. These other sources comprised 169.7 million kWh from wind power plants, 599.8 million kWh from solar power plants, and 222.1 million kWh from the Solid Municipal Waste Incineration Plant. Notably, electricity production at wind and solar power plants rose by 162.3 million kWh compared to 2024, reaching a total of 769.5 million kWh.

In 2025, production figures showed that 'Azerenergy' JSC contributed 25,591.8 million kWh, with 22,703.6 million kWh from Thermal Power Plants, 2,827.1 million kWh from Solar Power Plants, and 61.1 million kWh from Hydroelectric Power Plants. Additionally, wind power plants under 'Azerishig' JSC generated 27 million kWh, while independent power plants produced 3,038.7 million kWh.

The reporting period also highlighted that Azerbaijan's electricity exports reached 1,147.3 million kWh, whereas imports were recorded at 177.2 million kWh.
