Dushanbe: The 35th session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia has commenced in Dushanbe, the capital city of Tajikistan. This significant event aims to address current issues in food security, sustainable agriculture, efficient use of natural resources, and rural area development.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the conference has attracted key figures including FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu, along with ministers, deputy ministers, and ambassadors from various countries, as well as leaders of international and regional organizations. Representing Azerbaijan at this global platform is Deputy Minister of Agriculture Elchin Zeynalov.
Elchin Zeynalov spoke at the event, emphasizing the reforms underway in Azerbaijan's agrarian sector. He detailed the main focus areas of the country's agrarian development strategy and elaborated on the innovative projects being implemented. The session included panel discussions on topics such as the sustainable development of agri-food systems with youth participation, investment dialogue, and enhancing the resilience of agricultural systems.
Participants also delved into the development of partnerships in the bioeconomy and agrarian sectors and discussed ways to elevate the role of women in agriculture. The 35th session of the FAO Regional Conference for Europe and Central Asia is scheduled to continue until May 15.
