Baku:Azerbaijan has emerged as a significant transport and logistics hub between Europe and Asia, according to Azerbaijani Energy Minister Parviz Shahbazov. His remarks were made during the 8th meeting of the Azerbaijan-UK Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Baku.
According to Azeri-Press news agency, Shahbazov highlighted the substantial investments in transport and logistics infrastructure, such as the Alat International Sea Trade Port and the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, which have boosted the capacity of the Middle Corridor.
Shahbazov also pointed out the potential for cooperation in digital transformation, emphasizing opportunities in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data centers, and human capital development. Plans are in place to create a roadmap for these areas, including joint academic programs with leading UK universities.
Additionally, Shahbazov noted expanding collaborations in agriculture, food security, education, culture, and tourism. During the meeting, four agreements and memorandums were signed, covering areas like green energy, transport connectivity, and urban mobility, translating political dialogue into actionable projects.
The minister mentioned an Action Plan for 2026-2027, comprising over 60 measures across 10 areas, aiming to convert agreements into concrete results and leverage shared potential into new projects.
