Baku: Azerbaijan has taken a significant step in the fight against non-consensual AI-generated pornographic content by proposing stringent prison terms for offenders. Individuals who illegally produce or distribute pornographic or sexual materials using artificial intelligence technologies or special software will face imprisonment, APA reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this development is part of a new Article 242-1 added to the Criminal Code, which has been enacted following a decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev. The legislation targets the unauthorized use of a person's image or voice to create pornographic or sexual content. The law mandates that producing or distributing such materials in the media, on internet information resources, or information and telecommunication networks where they are publicly displayed will result in imprisonment for a term ranging from three to seven years.
The decree represents Azerbaijan's commitment to addressing the challenges posed by artificial intelligence technologies in the realm of privacy and consent. By criminalizing these actions, the country aims to deter the misuse of AI in creating and sharing non-consensual explicit content.
