Baku: Azerbaijan is setting ambitious goals for startup creation and digital transformation over the next few years.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the country plans to establish around 300 startups by the end of 2029. This objective is outlined in the ‘Strategy for the Development of the Digital Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2029.’

The strategy details specific targets for each year, aiming for the creation of 30 new startups in 2026, rising to 80 in 2027, 155 in 2028, and reaching 250 by 2029. Additionally, the plan includes expanding access to digital markets for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with a target of 20 SMEs in 2026, increasing to 200 by 2029.

Moreover, the strategy emphasizes the importance of digital transformation, aiming to have 50 enterprises participating in digital transformation programs by 2026. This number is expected to grow to 100 in 2027, 180 in 2028, and 300 by 2029.
