Lankaran: Azerbaijan has successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a substantial amount of drugs from Iran, as part of ongoing efforts to safeguard its state borders. Measures aimed at ensuring the reliable protection of Azerbaijan’s state borders and combating the illegal trafficking of narcotics, psychotropic substances, and their precursors are being effectively implemented, according to the Press Center of the State Border Service.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, a violation of the state border from the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Azerbaijan was detected and prevented on August 17. The incident occurred in the service area of the “Lankaran” border detachment of the State Border Service.
Following a series of border search and operational measures, authorities were able to detect and seize a total of 13 kilograms and 100 grams of marijuana from the service area. The State Border Service has confirmed that operational-investigative measures regarding the incident are ongoing.
