Baku: Azerbaijan's legislative body, the Milli Majlis, has made a significant move by reducing the initial contract term for women in extended active military service from three years to six months. This decision was made during a session focused on proposed amendments to key military regulations.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the changes were discussed in the context of amendments to the laws 'On Approval of the Regulation on Military Service' and 'On Military Duty and Military Service.' The primary objectives of these amendments are to improve the adaptability of female military personnel to service life, to decrease staff turnover, and to enhance the overall efficiency of military operations.
The draft law, reflecting these changes, was put forward for voting after the discussions and was successfully adopted in its first reading. This legislative change marks a pivotal shift in Azerbaijan's approach to female military service, potentially paving the way for further reforms in military organization and personnel management.
