Azerbaijan to Enhance Regional Energy Security with Electricity Contributions

Baku: Azerbaijan will play a significant role in bolstering regional energy security by contributing electricity in addition to oil and natural gas in the future, as announced by Trkiye's Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, Alparslan Bayraktar, during the 31st Baku Energy Forum, APA-Economics reports. The minister underscored the importance of the Baku Energy Forum as a critical platform for discussing energy security and addressing energy crises, highlighting Azerbaijan's pivotal role in the region's energy landscape.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Alparslan Bayraktar emphasized that the cooperation between Azerbaijan and Trkiye is advancing into a new era, particularly in the realm of green energy, similar to their collaboration on projects like the Trans-Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline (TANAP) and the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline. Bayraktar noted that Trkiye, which consumes approximately 60 billion cubic meters of natural gas, has relied heavily on Azerbaijani gas for many years. He expressed optimism about the potential for transporting larger volumes of Azerbaijani gas to Trkiye and further to Europe in the future.

The minister also mentioned that both parties have signed the necessary agreements to facilitate this expansion in energy cooperation, indicating a strengthened partnership and a shared vision for regional energy security and sustainability.
