Azerbaijan to Establish Permanent Settlement Fund in Liberated Territories

Baku: A Permanent Settlement Fund will be established in the liberated territories, APA reports. This initiative is reflected in the proposed amendments to the Housing Code discussed today at a meeting involving the Labor and Social Policy and Human Rights Committees of the Milli Majlis.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the draft proposes that residential premises of the Permanent Settlement Fund in the Liberated Territories will be categorized under the special-purpose housing stock. These premises are intended to facilitate the relocation of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to permanent residences in the liberated territories and to transfer ownership of those residences to them.

The procedure concerning the relocation of IDPs to these residential premises and the subsequent transfer of ownership will be determined by an institution designated by the relevant executive authority. The amendment to the Housing Code introduces the 'Permanent Settlement Fund in the Liberated Territories,' which aims to provide housing solutions for IDPs and ensure their ownership rights.
