Baku: Azerbaijan has announced a significant policy shift to support the families of deminers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The government will cover the tuition fees for the children of these fallen heroes. This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on families who have made immense sacrifices for the nation's safety.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this measure is part of an amendment to the Tax Code, recently approved by President Ilham Aliyev. The amendment stipulates that the state budget will finance the tuition fees for children of deminers who were killed or succumbed to injuries from explosive ordnance detonations. This support will be applicable while they pursue paid education at various educational institutions, including state, municipal, and private higher, secondary specialized, and vocational education institutions within Azerbaijan.

The amendment includes transitional provisions that extend this benefit to the children of deminers who were killed or died from injuries before the law's enactment. This privilege will remain in effect until the children reach the age of 23 and will be applied starting September 15, 2026. This policy reflects Azerbaijan's commitment to honoring the sacrifices of deminers and supporting their families' educational aspirations.
