Davos: President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev announced that Azerbaijan will host either a World Cup or a European Championship in skiing annually. This year, a World Cup event is scheduled to take place in Shahdag. The announcement was made during the 'Azerbaijan Executive Breakfast,' part of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, President Aliyev highlighted that Azerbaijan's collaboration with the International Ski Federation has commenced, leading to the inclusion of the event in the federation's calendar. He emphasized that these skiing events will complement the nation's summer attraction, Formula One, which has significantly boosted tourism since its inception over a decade ago. The President noted that the Formula One event led to a 20 percent increase in tourist numbers following its first year.
