Azerbaijan to Implement New Coordinate System Across Geodesy and Mapping Sectors

Baku: President Ilham Aliyev has issued an order for the application of a new coordinate system in geodesy, gravimetry, topography, cartography, and cadastral works throughout Azerbaijan. This initiative applies regardless of the purpose of the work, as reported by APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the new system will utilize the WGS-84 international coordinate framework based on the UTM map projection. This system will be implemented across all relevant sectors in Azerbaijan, ensuring consistency in geodesy, gravimetry, topography, cartography, and cadastral operations.

The transition to these coordinate systems will persist until ongoing projects, initiated under different geodesy systems, are completed. The Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan is tasked with addressing any issues arising from the implementation of this order.
