Baku: In an effort to boost Azerbaijan's tourism sector, new subsidy mechanisms are set to be introduced across various areas, including air travel and hotel development. According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the 'State Program for the Development of Tourism in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030,' approved by a Presidential Order on August 20, 2026, outlines these initiatives.
The document specifies the introduction of subsidy and compensation mechanisms in several key areas of the tourism industry. These include compensating the expenses for organizers of non-scheduled charter flights and subsidizing additional scheduled flights to target tourism markets. There will also be financial support for organizers of tourism-related events such as concerts and entertainment programs.
Additionally, the plan provides for subsidies to investors for each newly built and commissioned hotel room and offers financial incentives to tour operators who bring foreign tourists to Azerbaijan. Micro and small businesses operating within the tourism sector are also expected to receive subsidy support.
Implementation of these subsidy mechanisms for charter flights, scheduled flights, tourism-related events, tour operators, and small entrepreneurs is scheduled to begin between 2026 and 2027.
