Baku: Parents and teachers who resort to corporal punishment for disciplining children will face fines up to 200 manats. This development was reported by APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this measure is part of the newly proposed Article 525-1 of the Code of Administrative Offenses, which was discussed during a session of the Milli Majlis. The proposed legislation stipulates that parents, guardians, and employees in various institutions, including educational, medical, social service, sports, cultural, leisure, and penitentiary institutions, will incur a fine of 200 manats if they apply physical or psychological violence to a child for disciplinary purposes.
The fines are intended for cases where the actions do not lead to criminal charges under the Criminal Code. Following discussions, the draft law was put to a vote and successfully passed in its third reading.
