Azerbaijan to Sentence Dangerous Food Producers and Sellers to Up to 10 Years in Prison

Baku: Those who produce, organize the sale of, or store dangerous food products for the purpose of sale will be sentenced to up to 10 years in prison in Azerbaijan.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this is reflected in the new Article 200-3 of the Criminal Code, which has been approved by President Ilham Aliyev.

The newly implemented legislation targets individuals involved in the production, distribution, or storage of food products deemed dangerous for public consumption. The government aims to address and mitigate health risks associated with unsafe food products circulating in the market.

Under this legal framework, authorities will have the power to impose stringent penalties on violators, including significant prison terms. This move underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to ensuring food safety and protecting public health.
