Baku: As part of the initiative 'For life without thalassemia' launched by First Vice-President of Azerbaijan, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation Mehriban Aliyeva, a voluntary blood donation campaign was organized in a military unit of the Air Force, the Ministry of Defense informed AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the personnel of the military unit participated in the campaign aimed at creating a blood reserve for children suffering from thalassemia, hemophilia, and leukemia. The donors underwent a medical examination conducted by the mobile medical brigade of the Blood Bank of the National Center of Hematology and Transfusiology before donating blood.

The collected blood, upon verification and certification, will be transferred to the Republican Thalassemia Center.
