Baku: On April 22, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev held an expanded meeting with President of the Republic of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics, APA reports. The meeting aimed to reinforce the political and economic relationships between the two countries and was marked by discussions on various areas of cooperation.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, President Ilham Aliyev welcomed the Latvian delegation and highlighted the productive discussions held with President Rinkevics. He mentioned that prior to the visit, significant groundwork had been laid, including a successful session of the Intergovernmental Commission. Aliyev expressed confidence that the day's business forum would produce positive outcomes, emphasizing the mutual interest in collaboration, especially in trade, mutual investments, energy, connectivity, and digitalization.

President Aliyev also noted that the political developments in the region were a central topic of discussion and appreciated President Rinkevics' acceptance of the invitation to visit. He acknowledged the strengthening of political ties and the importance of addressing practical issues to enhance bilateral cooperation.

President of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics expressed gratitude for the invitation and hospitality, noting the impressive developments in Baku since his last visit in 2017. He reiterated Latvia's view of Azerbaijan as a strategic partner and friend, emphasizing the value of political and economic cooperation. Rinkevics commended the work of the Intergovernmental Commission and highlighted the comprehensive nature of his delegation, indicating a strong interest in practical discussions to further the bilateral partnership.
