Azerbaijani and Russian Foreign Ministers Discuss Peace Treaty Preparation with Armenia

MOSCOW — The Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Russia, Jeyhun Bayramov and Sergey Lavrov respectively, have conducted a phone conversation focused on the ongoing peace process with Armenia and other key diplomatic matters.

According to a new release by Azeri-Press News Agency, citing information from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia, the Ministers discussed the necessity of increased efforts to normalize relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia. They emphasized the importance of preparing a peace treaty, the opening of transport communications, and the delimitation of Armenia-Azerbaijan borders, based on a series of tripartite agreements at the highest level from 2020 to 2022.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan also released information about the phone conversation. The Ministry noted that issues of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Russia, the prospects of the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, and the current situation in the region were addressed. During the call, both Ministers emphasized the importance of normalizing relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia within the framework of sovereignty and territorial integrity, and of establishing lasting peace in the region.
