Baku: The “High-Level Dialogue event on improving the training and educational process” between Azerbaijan and Trkiye’s National Defense Universities (NDUs) was held at the Military Institute named after Heydar Aliyev of National Defense University. This event marked the 102nd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev’s birth.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the dialogue was attended by NDUs’ Rectors, chiefs of Main Departments, Department heads, educational institution leaders, officers, and academic staff from both nations. Participants paid tribute to Heydar Aliyev and Shehids by visiting the monument and Memorial Complex within the institute’s grounds, laying flowers in their honor.
During the event’s official segment at the Military Institute’s club, attendees observed a minute of silence for Heydar Aliyev and those who sacrificed their lives for the countries’ sovereignty and independence. The National Anthems of Azerbaijan and Trkiye were performed by a military orchestra, underscoring the solemnity of the occasion.
Major General Gunduz Abdulov, Rector of the Azerbaijan National Defense University, welcomed the attendees and highlighted the significance of the dialogue in military education between the Azerbaijani and Turkish NDUs. He emphasized that Trkiye’s delegation’s presence reflects the strategic partnership fostered by President Ilham Aliyev and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, particularly in military education. Major General Abdulov noted that merging educational institutions and military branches to discuss military personnel training is a first for the Azerbaijan Army, inspired by Turkish practices. He praised the recent collaborative efforts for their effectiveness in advancing military education for both countries.
Professor Erhan Afyoncu, Rector of the Turkish National Defense University, also addressed the gathering. He remarked that the integration of recent innovations in military education showcases the robust and enduring cooperation between Azerbaijan and Trkiye.
The event concluded with working groups focusing on enhancing the educational process, aligning their activities with the outlined plan.
