Bukhara: Presidents and First Ladies of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan visited the Ismail Samani Mausoleum in Bukhara. On August 24, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, First Lady Ziroatkhon Mirziyoyeva, and family members were present at the site.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Ismail Samani Mausoleum is one of the oldest Islamic architectural monuments in Central Asia. Constructed between the late 9th and early 10th centuries, the mausoleum is noted for its architectural design. Baked brick is used as the primary construction and decorative material. Researchers have identified 18 different types of brickwork within the mausoleum. The mausoleum is traditionally believed to be the burial site of Ismail Samani, the founder and a key figure of the Samanid dynasty, along with his father and grandson.
