Azerbaijani Army Commemorates Fuzuli City Day with Nationwide Events


BAKU: In a show of national pride and military solidarity, the Azerbaijani Army held a series of events to commemorate Fuzuli City Day on October 17. These activities took place across various military units, army corps, and special educational institutions, under directives from the Minister of Defense, as reported by Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense to AZERTAC.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the commemorations were attended by military personnel, public representatives, and war veterans. The events began with a tribute to National Leader Heydar Aliyev and the Shehids, who sacrificed their lives for Azerbaijan’s sovereignty and independence. The proceedings included a performance of the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Speakers at the event underscored the historical importance of the Victory in the Patriotic War. They discussed how the war was initiated in response to provocations by the Armenian armed forces and emphasized the unity of the Azerbaijani people in liberating their
lands. The strategic significance of reclaiming Fuzuli City and its surrounding areas was also highlighted.

The events celebrated the fact that the Azerbaijani State Flag now flies prominently over territories restored to Azerbaijani sovereignty, including Fuzuli City. Combatants expressed their gratitude towards the Supreme Commander-in-Chief for recognizing their contributions.

The day marks the anniversary of Fuzuli City’s liberation, as per a presidential order, and is officially celebrated as Fuzuli City Day. As part of the commemoration, army personnel visited Martyrs’ graves, laid flowers, and paid respect to their memories. Cultural and patriotic events were organized, and videos dedicated to the Victory in the Patriotic War were shown to the attendees.
