Azerbaijani Army Introduces Intellectual Capabilities Units to Foster Talented Conscripts


BAKU: The Azerbaijani Army has launched Intellectual Capabilities Units, aimed at harnessing and developing the skills of highly educated and talented conscripts, as part of a broader reform under the direction of President Ilham Aliyev.

According to Trend News Agency, the Ministry of Defense has initiated a new concept of military service that integrates the advanced knowledge and skills of exceptional young individuals into the army’s framework. This initiative is part of the ongoing reforms led by President Ilham Aliyev, who also serves as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. The Intellectual Capabilities Units, positioned under the National Defense University, offer specialized training and internship opportunities to leverage the intellectual potential of the conscripts.

Conscripts eligible for these units include those who have scored 600 or more on university entrance exams, winners of various national and international competitions, and graduates from foreign universities ranked among
the top 500 worldwide. These individuals will undergo a foundational training program before engaging in projects and activities that match their academic and professional qualifications.

The focus on information technology skills among conscripts is expected to significantly contribute to the digital transformation and the development of new capabilities within the Azerbaijani Army. The inclusion of talented youth in these units not only aims to enhance their career prospects but also ensures that the army can benefit from modern technological advancements and innovative approaches.

This strategic move underscores Azerbaijan’s commitment to building a strong human capital base that can effectively utilize modern technologies in military and defense strategies, providing valuable professional experiences to the youth during their service.
